Project 680

September 23rd, 2009

We are excited to create custom promotional bottle cap magnets for Project 680, a Sacramento-based grassroots organization that provides homeless students with items that most of us take for granted: new socks & underwear, shoes, shirts, and so on, which help to bring dignity to these students in such a simple yet profound way.  It’s a great cause and we are happy to have the opportunity to work together.  For more information on Project 680, please check out the link below:

http://www.project680.org

Also, please check out their current project, which is to raise enough funds to provide local homeless students with 100 pairs of brand-new shoes.  Keep up the good work, Project 680.  We wish you the best!!

Jonas Brothers caps

September 11th, 2009

Several months back, I had the opportunity to become acquainted with Nick, Kevin, and Joe of the Jonas Brothers, not personally, but certainly up-close and personal by producing a large order of bottle cap magnets for Disney.  It was a fun project and I hope for more opportunities to work with companies or individuals interested in unique branding opportunities.  The good news though for the individual is that you don’t need to order 10,000 bottle cap magnets (although please feel free to do so!!) but that you can order one at a time and with my original photograph expressions or artwork provided by you. BottlecapMagnets are fun for the fridge and make great gifts, wedding favors, and are wonderful promotional tools.  Please check out our website at:

http://BottlecapMagnets.com/

Also, please note two very important points related to this post:

1) BottlecapMagnets IS NOT a reseller of Jonas Brothers caps and will under no circumstances provide you with any copyright-protected materials.  We respect our clients and we also know that reselling anything with the Jonas Brothers is a big no-no.  So, please do not contact us about purchasing or ordering Jonas Brothers caps unless you are Disney or Joe, Nick, or Kevin Jonas!  We will not make any exceptions to this rule. Thank you very much.

2) On a similar note, in regards to Custom Orders, we will not produce any work for clients that is copyright-protected unless you are the owner of the images or are able to prove that you have rights to print the images.  We’re sorry to have to mention these two things but we appreciate your understanding.  Thank you very much!

Unstuffed

May 27th, 2009

cocochewtoy1

Fortunately, our family dog, Coco, is not a chewer so our furniture is safe but beware of stuffed toys!!  I walked into the living room earlier and found what was left of yet another victim of our sweet and loving (and destructive) dog!

Have a furry friend that you’ld like to enjoy their photograph?  We can do that for you or you can find some animals in our store, including our sweet Coco!  Hope that your day is “stuffed” with fun!

Cheers to Samia!

May 10th, 2009

Yesterday, I participated in the “Green Long Beach! Festival,” in which many other green artists and environmental organizations attended.  It was a lot of fun and being an event the first of it’s kind in Long Beach, it was quite successful.  Meeting many new people and sharing with them my work and creative reuse ideas such as bottle caps is always such a pleasure.  And it’s an honor to know that there are so many more people enjoying my photography in bottle caps on their fridges!!

Now about Samia, I would like to raise my glass to Samia in Long Beach.  Cheers to you for your contribution to the environment (and www.bottlecapmagnets.com)!!  Several months back we had met at an art walk event in Long Beach and she told me that she would start saving bottle caps for me, and as you can see in the picture below, she did just that!!  Thank you so much for being a friend to the environment and to BottlecapMagnets.  This was the highlight of my day yesterday and I thank you so much!!

Currently, I collect caps as donations from restaurants, bars, and other groups and individuals, all of which are wanting to find an alternative use for bottle caps.  “Why throw something away when it can still be used?”  This is the thinking.  And for anyone else out there that is looking for an alternative use and wants to make a donation of caps to BottlecapMagnets, we will gladly accept your caps.  One note: we are looking for mostly unbent caps that are not rusted, etc..  And for sizeable donations such as Samia’s, we’ll always find a way to show you our appreciation.  If you want to be a donator of caps, please send me an email at info@bottlecapmagnets.com.  In closing with a motto of a good friend, “Choose to reuse!”  Thank you and have a beautiful day!

New Concept

March 31st, 2009

BottlecapMagnets has more to offer than just caps and this is an example of one idea in the works.  Figuratively speaking, this is a sketch of an idea that I had the other day.  I went into the wood shop for a screen printing project but had some technical problems, and then somehow I ended up with this.  The next time around I will definitely use a hard wood and give thought to staining the wood as well.  Also, I may increase the size of each photo from 1in in diameter to 2 or 3 inches.  A work in progress it is!

Measured at 11in by 11in by 1in thick, a solid piece of pine wood, finished with clear lacquer, and carefully cut with 6 rows and columns of some favorite pics from over the years–a sample platter of photos–the photos are sealed beneath a glass-like surface.

As I develop the concept a little more, these should become available to the website soon, so please keep checking back or contact me with any questions in the meantime (info@bottlecapmagnets.com)!  Hope that you enjoy my work.

Citizen of the Year

March 12th, 2009

ryanpic

A quick note to share some exciting news as it relates to an amazing human being that I have the pleasure of knowing, my twin brother, Ryan.  I would like to make this announcement for many reasons, one of which, quite simply, is that you will never hear it from Ryan himself!!  Another reason is that I hope you will be inspired by some of the things my brother is doing in his community.  Actually, before I go any further, I should point out that my brother would strongly object to being called an “amazing human being,” but given that this is my announcement, I will choose the words that I think describe him best!

The announcement: Ryan has been awarded the “Citizen of the Year” award by the Rancho Cordova Rotary Club.  This is a big deal!!!  With a population of 60,000 plus, Ryan is recognized for his many accomplishments in 2008.  He accepts the award with humility and takes very little credit, if any, for his many contributions that have brought dignity where there is little or none and that have inspired a community to bring about change.  Below are a few websites that you can browse through to become familiar with some of the ways that Ryan has personally and deeply impacted his community:

http://www.project680.org
http://www.cordovatowne.com
http://www.socksandgloves.org

Ryan is not one to talk about change like many of us, myself included, but he is one who makes it happen!  He is truly a beacon of light in a sometimes very dark place.  Many people have been touched by Ryan over the years, and it is some of his more recent accomplishments, guided by his determination to bring dignity to the homeless and band together with fellow neighbors to clean-up a neighborhood and establish a sense of community, that are commendable and have earned him this very special award.  Please join us in celebrating and supporting Ryan for the outstanding citizen that he is.  Ryan, we are so proud of you. Keep up the good work!

Star Wars Episode Bottlecaps!

January 15th, 2009

If I could turn my words into music, I would start with the Star Wars theme song!!!

“Da-da-da-da—-da—-da-da-da-da—–da—–da-da-da-da——da—da-da-da-da—–.”

Brian and Lisa, the latest “Happy Customers” outdid themselves with these absolutely wonderful Star Wars images.  What creativity at work here!  These are so great, guys!  So glad to hear that you are enjoying the caps as well.  To any other “Happy Customers” out there, let’s see some more creativity!  Until next time, may the force be with you! ;)

Eric the Happy Customer

December 20th, 2008

Cheers to Eric, another “Happy Customer” who sent in a creative cap photo.  Eric is stylishly sporting “I heart graffiti.”  Nice expression and nice photo as well!  Thanks for sending this one in, Eric.  Now, for the rest of you out there, please don’t be shy about sending your own cap-creation photos. It’s always such a thrill and the highest compliment to receive something like this from customers. Looking forward to seeing more!!!

Wearable Caps

December 9th, 2008

After many-many-many people asking for it, Bottlecap Magnets is introducing wearable bottle cap art. Much will be added in time but for now, we have started with bottle cap pins, which have already proved to be a very popular item. Necklaces, rings, and bracelets may also be on their way. We’re here to make you look cool, sort of like your personal stylist in a way, so contact us with any suggestions on how we can create custom accessories for you! As always, all photos are the original work of Cory Lundquist. Each item is handmade, containing original photos sealed with a clear and smooth surface similar to glass. Enjoy!

Check ‘em out!

Tomomi the “Happy Customer”

December 1st, 2008

A while back, I introduced the “Happy Customer” section on my website in hopes that happy bottlecap magnet owners could happily and creatively contribute some photos-you know, a fun shot with them and their bottlecaps. It’s always fun to interact, right? Well, to date, I have received only a few cap photos, all the while thinking that maybe this isn’t such a great addition to the website after all. But it’s sort of like they say, you water the plant and it grows, you build it and they come, or something like that anyway…

Today, I received this series of such fun photos by “Tomomi” the happy customer. So creative. So inspiring. Clearly, Tomomi put some thought into this and really had a good time telling the story, which goes like this (this is straight from Tomomi):

“Daisy the chimpanzee has a hard time reaching the crosswalk button whenever she crosses the street.  One day, she found your website and asked you to make special magnet for her.  Cory usually only makes bottle cap magnets, but he agreed to make a special pet “Pignet” (pig plus magnet) for Daisy.  Now, she does not need to climb up the ladder to change the light to green; she can cross freely with the help of “Pignet.”  Pignet always stays with her…. Daisy is a happy customer, and Daisy just wanted to send a photo to show her appreciation. “

This is by far the highlight of my day. Thank you so much, Tomomi!! For any other happy capheads out there, feel free to send in something of you as well. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be as artsy or creative as Tomomi, but just follow two rules: have fun and be safe! Family photos, pet photos, famous landmarks, or anything else that tells the story, all is welcome! Thank you for being happy customers!
